Multimedia Lesson
Context
This lesson was created as the final project for EME 5602, Technology and Design. The assignment asked us to build an interactive lesson using any platform. I chose PowerPoint because of its flexibility and ease of use. The topic itself was fun and familiar, which gave me space to focus more on the structure, design, and learner experience.
Conditions
I completed the project independently, creating all the content and handling the design and development from start to finish. I drew on personal experience and outside research to shape the instruction. The project followed a set timeline and had to include multimedia, interactivity, and assessment components.
Scope
This was a complete prototype meant to demonstrate strong multimedia and instructional design. While it hasn’t been published, it’s built as a ready-to-use learning tool and could easily be adapted for informal learning environments. It includes clear steps, embedded visuals, interactive quiz questions with feedback, and helpful tips. Peer feedback led to some improvements in clarity and navigation.
Role
I served as both instructional designer and developer. I created the content, built the slides and navigation, and designed the quiz interactions. I also incorporated peer feedback at the end to improve the final version and make it easier to navigate.
Key Competencies Demonstrated
Design Skills
Organized the content using sequencing and chunking so each step felt manageable.
Focused on visual consistency, using layout, spacing, and color to guide the learner.
Applied design strategies from the course to make the information digestible and engaging.
Technology & Media Skills
Integrated visuals, text, and quizzes in a way that kept the experience smooth and uncluttered.
Intentionally chose all media to either teach or guide, not just decorate.
Communication Skills
Designed quiz feedback to support learning, not just correct mistakes.
