Podcast
Context
This project was created for EME 6415, Development of Computer Courseware. It focused on designing a short instructional podcast using audio only. The goal was to deliver a 3–5 minute lesson on a topic of our choice using Audacity, incorporating narration, music, and sound design. The podcast followed principles from Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction and met all technical and instructional guidelines outlined in the assignment and rubric.
Conditions
I completed this project by starting with a script, then recording narration, and editing in Audacity. I added background music on a second track and used fade-in/fade-out effects to make it smoother. I also paid attention to pacing and clarity so that the content felt easy to follow. The podcast opened with a fun introduction and clear learning objective, then moved through the topic in a logical way, closing with a short recap at the end.
Scope
The final audio came in just under five minutes. It includes background music, clean transitions, and clear narration. Everything was designed to work without visuals and still engage listeners.
Role
To create this podcast, I wrote, recorded, and edited the content. I chose the music, timed the segments, and made sure the transitions felt natural. This project helped me think differently about how to teach when you only have sound to work with. It also gave me a chance to practice audio editing, using tools like Audacity.
